I was so busy preparing for the holiday, I totally didn't get a chance to post my plans. The flip side is that I can tell you what failed and what was a hit!

This was our first Thanksgiving with family and it was just about perfect. Since we were doing a gluten/gluten-free meal, I made several sides for my crew. My only real fail was the green bean casserole. I think the husband put a few too many potato chips on top and I really think he should have slowly warmed the cream of celery soup on the stove top while whisking since it was homemade and previously frozen. Other than that, everything was great.

We made our gluten free green bean casserole using fresh green beans, homemade cream of celery soup, a bit of salt and garlic and crushed potato chips on top. I think we'll sub Funyuns next year. We also had mashed sweet potatoes, topped with marshmallows of course.

My favorite gluten free stuffing is Aleia's, but I can't seem to find it in the Austin area, not even in that great big Whole Foods store downtown. We settled for Glutino, this being the first time I've even seen it, I was a bit worried. It was wonderful! Even the non-GF'ers liked it. I want to go back and buy more. It's definitely new, I can't even find it on their website. Must buy!

The best part was the desserts. I made a Crustless Pecan Pie that everyone loved. I ran across this recipe two years ago so I knew it was good, and easy. In addition, for the first time ever, I made a Pumpkin Pie from scratch. Well, mostly from scratch, I did buy the crust frozen. I have never cooked pumpkin before, but it's something I was thinking about and when I saw that cute little sugar pumpkin at Trader Joe's in San Antonio, I couldn't resist. I made no changes to the recipe and ended up with just enough pumpkin and two wonderful pies. I also made this Woodchuck Apple Crisp for the third time, we all love it and I had some apples to use up.

The holiday was great, not counting my little kitchen mishap. The vegetable peeler decided to take a bit of my fingernail away, it still hurts. How was your holiday? Did you try any new recipes that were a big hit? Do share!
