Maybe I need more sleep, I hit post before proofing and completing, forgive any errors in this posting 😉

I love when I read an article that makes me feel I'm doing things right!

Research by the Sleep Council found that most kids aren't getting enough sleep compared to their grandparents. Today's kids are spending less time outside, snacking and drinking fizzy drinks before bed, having later dinner, not having quiet or reading time before bed and getting much less sleep than they need.

I can happily say that my kids are limited on sodas, but I can't quite change dinner time due to sports schedules unfortunately. We do fresh fruits and vegetables often and very little eating out. The younger three are outside as much as they possibly can be, though I should probably push the oldest outside more often.

My younger two get at least 9 hours of sleep per night on a bad night. My older son does get his nine+ hours, the oldest daughter is getting at least 9 as well.

Something we did with the older two when they were younger, and something I should go back to doing, is Pajamas-Bed-Room-Read. At 8 (before sports entered our lives!), they got into pajamas at 8, then got their beds ready for sleeping, straightened their room and then settled in to read quietly. I think that is something I need to begin pushing more with the younger two, more consistency. They do go to bed with books, but there is absolutely no schedule to what time to actually go to bed. Oh the joys of homeschooling- they can sleep in and stay up later. Not always a good thing!

I think I will try to shape those younger two into that routine. I know my older two, for the most part, still follow it.

So what about your house? Are your kids more or less like their grandparents?
