Gluten free chinese food seems so hard to find, but one restaurant is catering to those of us with cravings. P.F. Chang's has figured it out and offers an outstanding menu.
In March of this year, they even expanded their menu to offer even more dishes. “More and more of our guests are asking for gluten free options and we’re proud to offer them a greater variety of P.F. Chang’s classics,” said Gregg Piazzi, Director of Culinary Training for P.F. Chang’s China Bistro. “P.F. Chang’s is sensitive to all of the food allergies and dining requirements of our guests and we strive to serve customized cuisine that meets each diner’s individual needs.” They now have 28 gluten free dishes.
I highly recommend the GF Lettuce Wraps for an appetizer. I hear they are better than the non-gluten free version, though I haven't compared them myself. My favorite dish is Phillip's Better Lemon Chicken and that should be followed by the Flourless Chocolate Dome! In August of this year, there should be a second gluten free dessert introduced to the menu, Triple Chocolate Mousse mini-dessert.
A few things to note, pay attention to your dish. Gluten free foods are served on round logo plates as opposed to the normal rectangle plates. Also, the soy sauce is not gluten free, you should request the gluten free version which should be in an entirely different container. At the location we recently visited (Columbia, Md), it was a red bowl instead of the standard white. I love these little differences, it really helps that I know that my server brought out the correct item for me. I think it also helps the server to not get confused between two items.
