Imagine pinwheels whirling all over the world, in every country. You've got Whirled Peace. Join the Pinwheels for Peace project on the International Day of Peace, September 21.
Pinwheels for Peace was started in 2005 by two art teachers, Ann Ayers and Ellen McMillan. The idea started as a way for their students to express what was going in the world and their lives. The project spread quickly. The first year has an estimated 500,000 pinwheels and in 2009, an estimated three million pinwheels were whirling.
Participation is simple. Just create a pinwheel, as simple or as complex as you desire, and plant it. On the site, you'll find a template and directions. You can also print a certificate of participation for the members of your group or family if you desire.
